The First Step to Making 2018 the Best Year Yet for Your Business

Do you want 2018 to be the best year yet for your business?

Of course you do. (Why wouldn’t you?)

So, where do you start?

What’s the first thing you need to do?

Create the strategy that will make it happen? Nope, before that.

Plan the time to create the strategy that will make it happen? Uh-uh, before that.

Define exactly what that will mean for your business? Nah, before that.

Assess where your business is now? Nooo, before that.

Before you do these, vital things that you must do if your business is going to have an amazing year, there is one thing that you need to do now.

Do this one thing and you will straight away massively increase the chance of achieving what you’re about to set out and do and have that amazing year.

Here’s what you need to do.

You need to resolve to do it.

Is that it?

Yep – this is your very first step and it’s a crucial step. Bear with me.

If you don’t resolve to make 2018 your best year yet, then chances are you’ll not succeed in doing it.

Tell me this…

Why do some people struggle and fail repeatedly to give up smoking whereas others – like my father after 30 years a smoker – are able to just stop and never smoke again?

Why do so many people spend years on different diets only to fail each time and see their weight depressingly balloon, when others succeed first time and manage to keep the weight off.

And of course, at this time of year, why do almost all New Year resolutions fail to survive the first month of two of the year?

Resolve.

The people who succeed, first resolve that they will.

They make a huge, emotional commitment to achieve whatever their goal is.

They’ve thought about it long and hard and they are ready. The determination to achieve their goal is strong, it is palpable and it is at the forefront of their mind.

They may have a mantra to help remind them in moments of weakness. They may bring forth uncomfortable memories of loved ones who have suffered because of their addiction or they may stick pictures on the fridge door showing how they used to look before the weight piled on.

Whatever they do, it starts with resolution – the “firm determination to do something.”

Resolve that your business is going to achieve what you want in 2018.

Don’t just wish it in a passing thought only to be forgotten a few minutes later.

Start now. Right now.

Make the decision that 2018 is going to be the best business year you’ve had yet.

Have you made that decision? Say it out loud – it makes it even more real. If no-one can hear you then say it loudly – shout it – and repeat it. Again! “2018 will be my best year yet!”

Turn it into a mantra if that helps.

“2018 will be my best year yet!”

“2018 will be my best year yet!”

“2018 will be my best year yet!”

Give it the attention it deserves and put some meat on the bones.

Think about what your business will look like at the end of 2018 – where it will be, how you will feel, the freedom the extra wealth will bring you.

Take your time. Think about this over these last weeks of 2017 and into 2018. Build on the image, add layers, smell it, taste it, feel it. See yourself in 12 months’ time having achieved what you set out to achieve.

You’ve made the decision and over the coming weeks you’re going to keep it in your mind and build on it.

There’s your first step.

If you’d like to know what your next step should be then read on.

Your next step is to figure out how you’re going to do it because it won’t happen just because you want it to.

And so here’s your next step.

You need to plan how you’re going to do it. And you don’t have long.

Do you know the steps you need to take in order to make this great year happen – yes or no?

If yes, then get started now so that you’re ready to get going at the start of the year.

If no, then go here and let me show you how.

So, starting right now…

  1. Resolve that you are going to have an extraordinary year;
  2. Keep that at the forefront of your mind and build on it over the coming weeks;
  3. Quantify what this success means;
  4. Map out how you’re going to do this.

And if you don’t know how to do this in the time you have left, then go to my new course, Small Business Strategy for Success and I’ll show you.

Don’t delay – resolve to do this now.
